Catching up

August in the office is usually a quiet one, but surprisingly this year it's been a very busy one for me. I put this down to many people deciding to stay at home instead of taking holidays abroad, and consequently some business owners will continue to spend some hours of their well-earned holiday catching up with work. We've all got used to working from home, and working from a holiday apartment, villa, hotel, campsite or boat can be just as easy.

I speak from experience! I've spent most of August juggling family and days out with keeping on top of the work that clients are sending in. It works well provided you're organised and prepared to sometimes work at odd hours of the day. I always give realistic deadlines for longer pieces of work and projects - it doesn't help anyone if I promise a delivery or deadline date knowing that I'd be working flat out to meet it. I wouldn't want to rush a piece of work just to meet a deadline, and clients would far rather know the reality than false promises.

Now we're heading towards the last Bank Holiday of the summer and I'm getting organised and prepared for September - from my office window I see the seasons change but for the time being I settle for the summer sun.
